Job Description
  • The Junior Sales Analyst will work directly with Zindi's CEO and serve as a key support to the wider sales team. You will manage much of the day-to-day sales operations, including responding to new enquiries, qualifying leads, drafting follow-up communications, preparing proposals and marketing materials, and maintaining an accurate and active sales pipeline in HubSpot.
  • You will be trusted with meaningful responsibility from day one. This includes communicating on Zindi's behalf with senior stakeholders at governments, international organisations, and technology companies. Sound judgement, discretion, initiative, and excellent written communication skills are therefore essential.
  • You will also use AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT regularly for research, writing, analysis, and content creation, ensuring that all outputs are accurate, professional, and of a high standard.
  • We are looking for someone who is highly organised, commercially minded, resourceful, and comfortable working independently in a fast-moving remote environment.

Core Responsibilities

Lead Management & Sales Pipeline
Support the sales team in managing opportunities from initial enquiry through to conversion. This includes:

  • Responding promptly to inbound enquiries, qualifying prospective clients, and arranging discovery calls with the CEO and wider team.
  • Researching and building targeted prospect lists of potential clients and partners.
  • Executing outbound outreach through email and LinkedIn, including managing follow-up sequences.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in HubSpot, including contacts, companies, deals, notes, tasks, and follow-up reminders.
  • Tracking all active conversations and ensuring that no lead, opportunity, or follow-up falls through the cracks.
  • Monitoring pipeline activity and analysing the performance of different sales channels.
  • Preparing regular sales pipeline updates and reports to support decision-making.
Proposals & Marketing Collateral
Develop high-quality sales materials that communicate Zindi's value proposition and support business development efforts. This includes:
  • Drafting proposals, pitch decks, quotations, and statements of work using Zindi's standard offerings, pricing, and templates.
  • Preparing and updating sales collateral, including company profiles, one-pagers, case studies, and presentation decks.
  • Researching prospective clients and tailoring proposals to their needs and objectives.
  • Developing case studies that demonstrate the impact and value of Zindi's work.
  • Ensuring all sales materials are accurate, compelling, professionally presented, and consistent with Zindi's brand.

Sales Operations & CEO Support
Provide operational and administrative support to keep the sales function organised and efficient. This includes:

  • Managing the CEO's calendar and coordinating appointments.
  • Scheduling sales meetings and calls across multiple time zones.
  • Researching relevant events and helping the CEO evaluate and prepare for participation.
  • Drafting meeting follow-ups, correspondence, and other stakeholder communications.
  • Maintaining an organised Google Drive containing proposals, contracts, presentations, and other sales materials.
  • Supporting contract administration and tracking documents through to signature.
  • Helping develop repeatable sales processes, templates, workflows, and playbooks as Zindi's sales function grows.

What Success Looks Like
Success in this role will be measured by your ability to keep the sales engine organised, responsive, and moving forward. Key indicators include:

  • Consistently booking qualified discovery meetings for the CEO and sales team.
  • Sending follow-up emails within one working day of the last interaction.
  • Ensuring proposals are prepared and sent promptly after discovery meetings.
  • Supporting opportunities through the sales process and helping move contracts towards signature.
  • Maintaining a complete, accurate, and up-to-date HubSpot pipeline that the team can confidently rely on.
  • Ensuring sales materials, communications, and administrative processes are consistently professional and well organised.

Core Competencies & Skills
  • A proactive problem-solver who identifies what needs to be done, takes ownership, and follows through without constant supervision.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, managing competing priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong professional judgement, discretion, and trustworthiness, particularly when handling confidential information and representing Zindi externally.
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to assess situations, evaluate options, and make sound recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to produce polished, professional communications.
  • Strong familiarity with AI tools such as Claude and/or ChatGPT for research, writing, editing, analysis, and content creation, with the judgement to review and refine AI-generated outputs.
  • Hands-on experience with HubSpot, particularly contact management, email sequences, tasks, reminders, and deal pipeline tracking.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using Google Workspace, including Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive.
  • Strong interest in sales, business development, and building commercial relationships.
  • Passion for growing the AI ecosystem in Africa and beyond.

Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience in any of the following areas will have an added advantage:

  • Previous experience in sales, business development, account management, or marketing, ideally within technology, startups, or professional services.
  • Experience drafting proposals, responding to tenders, or preparing pitch materials.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence, data science, or technology solutions.
  • Working proficiency in French or Arabic.
  • Experience using design and presentation tools such as Canva.

Who We're Looking For
  • Someone ambitious, curious, and eager to develop a career in sales and business development.
  • A self-starter who takes initiative and thrives when given responsibility.
  • A strong communicator who can confidently engage with senior stakeholders and external partners.
  • Someone commercially minded who understands the importance of responsiveness, relationship management, and closing opportunities.
  • A highly organised individual who enjoys bringing structure to fast-moving activities.
  • Someone comfortable using AI tools to work smarter, improve productivity, and produce high-quality outputs.
  • A resourceful problem-solver who can adapt to changing priorities and work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Someone who takes ownership, pays attention to detail, and consistently delivers on commitments.
  • Deep alignment with Zindi's mission to grow the AI ecosystem in Africa and beyond.
